CRG NetworkThe CRG Network is composed by a number of HP Ethernet Procurve 24xx and 26xx Managed Switches with 1Gbit-FDX backbone, and is connected to the Campus Backbone through our dedicated firewall. The network provides connectivity to the group's research laboratories and offices, and also to E+D teaching laboratories that are available to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The CRG Network is managed internally by the CRG faculty to allow fast responce to our research needs. Along with the high speed connectivity a range of high-performance servers offer a number of services (WWW, FTP, CVS, SMB, NFS, DNS, LPR) to support our research members. Within the CRG Network a partitioned segment as an isolated subnet is used for our High Performance Computing research activities. This environment is used for the research and development of Beowulf and Embedded Beowulf clusters. Additionaly to the CRG Research Facitilies a number of undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories are being serviced and maintained by our members. These laboratories are part of the Department of Engineering and Design and are used to support teaching and practical sessions for undegraduate classes and MSc cources. They are also used for undergraduate and postgraduate student projects. |
